Charting

The Charting Module visualizes the cross-tabulation relationship between audience columns and insight rows.

Sections of the Charting Module

  • Charts: all charts in a traditional charting view.
  • Dynamic View: interactive audience constraint modeling and real-time target isolation on the charts, with no permanent edits to the report data.
  • Trending: shown when a report is trended; lets users view changes across waves of a survey family.

The Charting Panel

A collapsible panel docked to the right of the canvas configures the charts.

  • Chart Selection: Charts are now unselected by default when you switch to the Charts view. Use the "Select all" or "Clear all" toggles in the panel to choose which charts receive global style, palette, or data item updates.
  • Select all / Clear all: Select all applies global updates; Clear all deselects every chart so you can style individual cards.
  • Mixed status awareness: if selected charts differ in style, type or configuration, the panel shows an indeterminate "mixed" state (several chart type icons highlighted, mixed checkmarks). Choosing a new style unifies all selected charts.
  • Chart Group filtering: a Charts Group dropdown at the top of the panel isolates specific question groups on screen.
  • Panel collapse: the Close chart panel button collapses the sidebar for full-screen review.

Panel tabs

  • General tab: chart styling, layout modes, sorting orders and universe filtering.
    • Chart colours button (next to the active Tablebase dropdown) changes the colours of the data in the charts.
    • Chart view mode:
      • Combined Targets (Combined Charts): one chart per insight group name, showing how audiences compare across the row variables in that group.
      • Single Targets (Single Charts): a dedicated chart for each individual column target, with content controlled by the insight row groups.
    • Chart types: Vertical / Horizontal Bar, Stacked Bar, Line, Bubble, Area, Tree Map, Pyramid, Waterfall, Pie, Donut and Multi-Series Donut.
  • Rows tab: item-level visibility. Show or hide attributes with checkboxes, show benchmark margin totals via the Totals checkbox, or use Global Chart Mode (up to 60 items on a single unified chart).

Other behavior

  • Interactive legend toggles: click an audience or segment series in a chart legend to show or hide it on the canvas.
  • PowerPoint and Slides export (150 chart limit): charts can be exported to PPT or Google Slides, with survey attribution cover pages and copyright footers. A batch cap of 150 charts per export keeps the browser stable. In PowerPoint, right-click a chart and choose Edit Data to change values in the embedded spreadsheet.
