Coding grid

The Coding Grid is for advanced management of targets (columns), insights (rows) and tablebases, shown in three tabs.

Within each tab, items display up to five attributes: Title, Code, Resps (sample count for the active tablebase), Population (weighted universe) and Group Name.

Views

  • Standard view
  • Treeview: groups items by Group Name, allows mass actions on those items, and lets groups be hidden for simpler analysis.

Features

  • Expand Code column: hover over the Code column title and use the toggle on its right boundary to widen the syntax view for complex boolean statements (the Title column condenses).
  • Column visibility (Hide columns): the Hide columns icon in the action bar shows or hides Resps, Population or Group Name. Anchor columns (ID and Title) always stay visible. Settings are kept separately for the Rows, Columns and Tablebases tabs.
  • Reset Coding Grid: an action bar shortcut that wipes all rows, columns and tablebases in one click, without rebuilding the report.
  • Mid-list code insertion: create custom codes and insert them between existing rows or columns, not only at the bottom.
  • Drag-and-drop positioning: items dragged from the Codebook can be dropped onto an existing item, with prompts to insert above or below it.
  • Add code footer action: hover over the bottom row for a + Add code prompt.
  • Coding Grid LRA access: launch Large Row Analysis from the Coding Grid kebab menu (see Explore - Advanced Crosstab Analysis).
  • Coding Bar: A flat, context-aware bar at the bottom of the grid. The hidden flyout menus have been removed, so all operations are shown on the bar. Buttons dynamically enable/disable based on your selections in the Codebook vs. Coding Grid. * Operations like Volumetrics, SUM, COUNT, SOLUS, ANY (OR) and ALL (AND) are positioned at the forefront. * Orphaned States: You can build logic sequentially. Clicking an operator places the equation in an "Orphaned State" (marked with a warning chip) until you select an item from the Codebook and click >> or another operator to complete the logic. * Math Operators: Select grid items and click MULTIPLY (*) or DIVIDE (/). A modal opens where you enter a whole integer, which is applied to multiply or divide the audience value for those lines. * Note: The older singular OR/AND/AND NOT buttons and the "Add to multiple" button have been removed from this bar. Add to Multiple is still available from the Codebook options (see Explore - Codebook).
  • In-grid rename: hover over a row and click rename to rename items directly, without launching the Visual Code Builder.
  • Find and Replace: the Search button opens the Find and Replace modal (minimum 1 character) to replace characters, words, syntax tags, operators or brackets.
  • Switching tablebase: in the Tablebase tab the active tablebase shows an Active chip. Switch by opening an item's kebab menu and choosing Set as tablebase.
  • Wildcard half-code symmetry warning: in surveys that use wildcard coding syntax, Explore shows a warning banner if an incomplete "half code" is added to columns. Matching half codes must be assigned to rows to complete the matrix evaluation.
  • Manual column resizing is also available here (see Explore - Report Views).
