Report views

Explore offers several views for analysing tabulated data. Crosstab is the default. To switch, click the relevant report view tab in an open report.

Crosstab

Evaluates the relationship between two or more variables at once.

  • Cross-tabulation matrix: column categories (demographics / audiences) against row categories (insights / behaviors).
  • Intersection calculations: counts, percentages (%Row, %Col, %Total) and Index for each cell intersection.
  • Statistical testing: significance testing and stability evaluation (see Explore - Report Settings).
  • Cell context menu: click any cell for one-click shortcuts:
    • Benchmark Index Highlights: automatically highlights every other cell that over- or under-indexes relative to the selected target cell.
    • Direct Placement: assigns that cell's row or column code directly into Rows, Columns or Tablebases.
    • Cell Styling: apply Bold to emphasize key findings for stakeholder presentations.
  • Row and column kebab actions (kebab menu beside any row or column header):
    • Rename: change the custom title. The item's title mode becomes Custom title.
    • Edit: opens the VCB (Visual Code Builder).
    • Ask Stanley: Stanley analyzes the entire set of rows or columns against the selected row or column.
    • Sort: ascending or descending by any available data item. More sort options opens a modal for detailed sorting, such as the starting row and showing only the top or bottom N. An active sort shows a visual arrow on the sorted column; clicking it cycles Descending → Ascending → Default (original input order).
  • Compact / Reset column widths: in Crosstab Settings (top right of the table), Compact/reset column widths snaps all columns to their minimum readable width to fit more data; clicking again restores default widths. Columns can also be resized manually by dragging header boundaries, including in Separated rank, Combined rank, Affinity rank and the Coding Grid.
  • Error cell representation: when a calculation is uncomputable, undefined or has a zero divisor, the cell shows a hyphen (-) rather than staying blank or showing NaN.

Separated rank

Splits the crosstab into an individual table for each column target, to focus on one target segment or variable at a time.

  • Show Top N: applied from the view controls, it affects every target table on screen at once (for example the Top 10 rows for Target A, B and C in one action).

Combined rank

All columns, rows and data items in a single consolidated table, with metrics arranged as sub-columns. Good for cross-variable ranking and synthesis.

Grid report

Stacks common responses to multiple question categories side by side, ideal for evaluating attitudes across media channels or brands.

  • An extra sub-column shows question / category titles.
  • Sub-column sorting: click the sort indicators on sub-column headers to sort rows alphabetically, numerically or by category rank across stacked items.

Affinity rank

Analyzes the correlation between target rows and all other rows in the report using the Affinity Score.

  1. Calculation: the sum of squared differences between the %Row values of the subject row and the specified base target.
  2. Setup: designate column attributes (for example demographics) and row entities (for example brands).
  3. Ranking: select the primary target to rank rows automatically in order of correlation strength.

A lower Affinity Score means a closer match, so a stronger affinity. This follows from the definition: a smaller sum of squared differences means more similar %Row values.
